Krysten Keches, harpist
Do you require a piano background?
No, I don't require my students to have a background in piano or any other instrument. While previous musical training is wonderful and will certainly jumpstart harp lessons, I'm happy to teach students with no prior musical experience.
What age range do you teach?
I accept students as young as four years old. In fact, I started harp lessons just before my fourth birthday! Parents of young students must be actively involved in lessons and willing to help their child practice on a regular basis. If your child is able to focus on one activity for 30 minutes, they may be ready for harp lessons. I specialize in working with students ages 4-18 and do not teach adults.
Will I need a harp at home?
Yes, you will need to rent or purchase a harp so that you can play at home between lessons. I will provide you with detailed information about rental and purchase options. You don't need to bring your harp to lessons (you're welcome to play one of my three instruments during lessons).
Can I meet you for a trial lesson?
Yes! I encourage trial lessons with new students and families so that we can discuss your goals and see if we're a good match. I'm happy to connect you with a current student or parent if you'd like to learn more about my teaching style. Please also see my Testimonials page.
What are your lesson fees?
Please contact me for my current lesson rates. I offer 30-minute, 45-minute, 60-minute, and 90-minute options.
